In May 2011 the official website was opened and introduced a new viral marketing campaign similar to that used to promote The Dark Knight. On the website was an audio file, which, when encrypted gave the username to a twitter account. This twitter account was called TheFireRises. For every person who commented on the twitter account a pixel was removed from the website until an image of the films main villain Bane was revealed.
